- Music Resources, From San Francisco Classical Voice, includes a "Composer Gallery," offering biographical information on composers, searchable by period or from an alphabetical list; also included is a glossary of musical terms, and a collection of online Learning Resources.
- National Jukebox, from the Library of Congress, "makes historical sound recordings available to the public free of charge." Historical recordings of instrumental and vocal music, as well as spoken recordings, from 1901 through 1925, are available for streaming. The collection is searchable by keyword, artist, genre, or title, and even offers a playlist function that allows users to create and share playlists without creating an account!
- PBS: Arts & Entertainment - Music for documentaries and more on music and musicians.
- Sound Reasoning, is a free online course in music appreciation from Rice University, developed by Dr. Anthony Brandt, Associate Professor at Rice.
- Virginia Tech Multimedia Music Dictionary, offers brief definitions and includes pronunciation of terms, names, etc., images, and composer lists by name, chronology or nationality.
- Virtual Instrument Museum, from Wesleyan University, is an online collection of images and audio/video files representing musical instruments from around the world and throughout history.
