INTRODUCTION:  I have an extensive technical background with college teaching, computer and engineering experience including planning and estimating. I have designed telecommunication plant, estimated costs, and was responsible for tracking costs of projects.  My communication skills are evidenced by the publication of numerous manuals, contributions to physics and mathematics test bank data bases, a journal publication, two theses, seven formal paper presentations, and lecturing.

Worked with TechPrep, a program involving local high schools.
Worked on text searches.
Worked on grant proposal.

September 1986 - August 1993:  Instructor of mathematics at the University of New Orleans.
Responsible for student workers, including paper graders.

Chaired section and graded for Literary Rally.

June 1985 -:  Taught mathematics and physics part-time at various colleges in the New Orleans area.

Experience Computer and Engineering:
June 1973 - May 1986:  BellSouth Services Incorporated / South Central Bell.  Worked in a Minicomputer Operations Center for two years.  Was responsible for troubleshooting many networks that covered the state.  Was also responsible for hardware operations of several systems.  Most of these systems were DEC and most operated in UNIX. Oversaw a conversion to a new disk configuration for one system.  Was responsible for the documentation on several systems.

Was an engineer at South Central Bell for eleven years.  Was a member of the planning group for three years.  Controlled work by other engineers, supervised a clerk, and oversaw work from contract engineering firms.  Made formal project submittals, estimated and tracked costs, designed facilities, conducted cost studies to determine optimum plan, ran several programs on the computer, and wrote long range plans which were formal corporate documents.  Designed projects which included central office recentering, fiber optics, digital carrier, conduit and cable construction, building cabling, and an air pressurization system.  Was assigned the pilot project of air pressurization for South Central Bell.  The cost of some projects was in the millions of dollars.  Supervised work of contract engineers.

June 1972 - May 1973:  Graduate assistant for the Mathematics Department, the University of New Orleans.

August 1971 - December 1971:  Taught mathematics and chemistry at Holy Redeemer, a high school no longer in operation, in LaCombe, Louisiana.

I wrote the online College Algebra Course at RPCC.

I wrote the online TRIGONOMETRY course at RPCC.

I wrote the Physics exam for the Tech Prep program at Delgado Community College.

I served on numerous committees that wrote final exams.

Grants:
In addition to the grants that were successful, many more were proposed.  I frequently have the creative idea, than bring others into the grant proposal.  In addition to the BOR and LCTCS grant proposals in which I was the principle investigator, I was involved with an unsuccessful grant with Nichols State University, Delgado Community College, and Fletcher.  Nichols State was the source of the idea and the proposal.  I am the Principal Investigator on all of the below grants except the one on Service Learning.

A BOR grant has recently been approved for Creating Hybrid Courses with Multiple Presentation Forms.  This grant has not yet been started.

Worked on a grant on Service Learning.

A LCTCS grant to purchase manipulative material for the Math of Education Majors courses was successfully completed during the 2003-2004 academic year..

A mini-grant to develop a trigonometry online course at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Math Lab:

I identified sources for materials and made arrangements to have them acquired, often at no cost, to establish mathematics tutorials at RPCC.  This was a need I saw and acted upon through initiative to fill a need.

Photo Contest:

I conducted RPCC’s first photo contest, which was a success.  I had experience in doing this since I had previously conducted a photo contest for the Knights of Columbus, and made a photo contest an annual event for Cub Scout Pack 116 when I was Cubmaster.
