eBook Collections

Visit the eBook Collections page for links to thousands of ebooks from several ebook providers.  eBook Collections (electronic copies of printed books in PDF format) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Students will be prompted to login with their Library User ID or Alt. ID, and PIN to access these ebooks from off-campus.

Gale In Context: Biography: Biographies, magazine articles, images, and website links for more than 900,000 people.

Britannica Online Academic Edition: A full-text encyclopedia with video, maps, & more.

CQ Researcher: In-depth, non-biased full-text reports on topics and issues in the news.

Films On Demand: academic, documentary and archival films; search for “public speaking” for related full-length video and clips.

Gale Ebooks: Reference sources for just about any research topic.

Nexis Uni: Features more than 15,000 news, business and legal sources – including U.S. Supreme Court decisions dating back to 1790.

Newspaper Source Plus: Articles from over 285 regional, national, international newspapers, & TV transcripts.

Newswires (AP, UPI, etc.): Near real-time access to top world-wide news sources.

Oxford Reference: Full-text general and subject-specific reference sources.

  • Finding Your Unique Authentic Voice, an interview with Norma Hollis, “America’s Leading Authentic Voice Doctor.”
  • Public Speaking Tips, From Toastmasters International; also check out their resources and publications (some resources are available only to members, but many are FREE!
  • Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world.
  • Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University, provides over 50 years of public opinion survey results, including opinion polls on important social issues.
  • TED: Ideas worth spreading: “Riveting talks by remarkable people,” offers video of talks on numerous topics, searchable by theme, speaker, etc. Search for “filter bubbles” for an interesting talk on Internet search personalization by Eli Pariser, author of the book The Filter Bubble: What the Internet is Hiding from You.
